The 12th Annual Conference of the British Academy of Audiology (BAA) is fast approaching, with just under two weeks to go until the event at the Harrogate International Centre on November 26th and 27th.
This year, the theme will be 'Innovate, Integrate, Initiate', as the sector strives to become more collaborative and inventive over the coming months and years.
Dr Cherilee Rutherford and Christine DePlacido have led the scientific programme team for the conference, creating a schedule that's jam-packed with case studies and presentations showcasing innovative new projects and ways of working from throughout the industry.
In particular, the areas of audiology that will be focused on at this year's conference will include diagnostic and medical audiology, vestibular disorders, paediatrics, professional development, ageing and cognition, and tinnitus.
These will feature on the event's programme alongside seminars and talks on auditory processing disorders, implantable technologies, education, and supervision and preceptorship, making for a varied and interesting schedule that's designed to inspire those currently practicing in the industry, as well as those working their way towards a career in audiology.
For assistance and associate audiologists, there'll be a specially tailored programme focused around the theme of tinnitus and rehabilitation, which is fitting as recent research from Action on Hearing Loss has revealed that this is set to be an increasing problem over the next 20 years. This means this is likely to be a major area of focus for these new audiologists as they begin their careers in the industry.
The BAA annual conference will come to a glamorous end with a Gala Dinner at the Majestic Hotel on the evening of November 26th, taking the form of a Black Tie Masquerade Ball - there'll even be a prize for the best mask, so let your creativity shine.
Mediplacements will be in attendance, so look out for us and please come over and say hello!
