We are currently recruiting for an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join a mixed acute and community stroke service on a locum basis.
The role offers a varied caseload, with 2 days working on an acute stroke unit and 2 days covering a community stroke caseload. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLT with strong dysphagia and communication experience who enjoys working across both hospital and community settings.
The Role
2 days per week on an acute stroke unit.
2 days per week covering a community stroke caseload.
Specialist dysphagia assessment and management of post-stroke patients across acute and community settings.
Specialist communication assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.
Liaise closely with the wider stroke MDT.
Support with Mental Capacity Act (MCA) assessments where required.
Independently manage a clinical caseload, including discharge documentation and reports.
Provide assessment and intervention across patients' own homes, care homes and other community settings.
Lone working will be required as part of the community caseload.
Requirements
HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist.
Relevant UK clinical experience.
Experience working with stroke patients.
Strong dysphagia and communication skills.
Ability to manage an independent caseload.
Full UK driving licence and access to your own car are essential for the community element.
