Locum Band 7 Podiatrist - Wound Care & High-Risk Foot Care, SE London

Mediplacements is currently recruiting for an experienced Band 7 Podiatrist to join a well-established service in South East London. This part-time locum opportunity is ideal for a clinician with strong experience in wound care and high-risk foot management, looking to make a real difference to patients at risk of foot ulceration.

The Role

You will provide specialist podiatry care for patients with complex foot health needs, including both diabetic and non-diabetic patients at risk of ulceration. Working within an established diabetic foot pathway, you will collaborate closely with local acute hospital teams to ensure seamless shared care and optimal patient outcomes.

Essential Experience

• HCPC-registered Podiatrist
• Previous NHS experience, ideally at Band 7 level
• Extensive experience in wound care management
• Experience in sharp debridement and offloading techniques
• High-risk routine foot care experience
• Strong understanding of diabetic foot management and ulcer prevention
• Experience providing patient education to promote self-management and reduce risk
• Ability to recognise and appropriately escalate deteriorating patients
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team working skills
• Ability to work independently and manage a specialist caseload

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver wound care assessment, treatment, and ongoing management
• Provide high-risk routine foot care for diabetic and non-diabetic patients
• Perform wound debridement and implement appropriate offloading interventions
• Monitor patients at risk of foot ulceration and develop preventative care plans
• Educate patients on foot health, wound management, and ulcer prevention
• Identify clinical deterioration and escalate concerns appropriately
• Work collaboratively with community and acute hospital teams as part of an established diabetic foot pathway
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
• Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions and care planning
