Speech & Language Therapist – Specialist SEND Setting

Location: Buckinghamshire / Hampshire

Salary: £33,119 – £56,293 per annum (FTE), dependent on experience and qualifications

Equivalent: NHS Bands 5–7

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for Speech & Language Therapists at Therapist, Specialist and Senior level to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with complex communication and additional needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for an SLT who wants to work in a genuinely multidisciplinary environment, where communication is central to learning, inclusion and the development of young people.

The service is continuing to develop its therapy provision, so there is also scope for experienced therapists to play an important role in shaping and developing the SLT service.

The Role

Depending on experience, you will:

Assess and provide specialist, outcome-focused intervention for children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs.

Support pupils with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH and associated communication difficulties.

Embed effective communication strategies throughout the learning environment.

Work closely with teachers, support staff, families and other professionals as part of a multidisciplinary approach.

Provide advice, training and support to staff to help develop communication-focused practice.

Senior / Specialist Opportunities

For more experienced SLTs, there are opportunities to take on greater clinical responsibility and contribute to the development of the wider therapy service.

This can include clinical leadership, supervision and mentoring, staff training, service development, quality assurance and supporting best-practice approaches across the setting.

About You

Essential:

Recognised Speech & Language Therapy qualification.

HCPC registration.

RCSLT membership/eligibility.

Experience working with children and young people.

Strong understanding of speech, language and communication needs.

Excellent communication, organisation and collaborative working skills.

Desirable:

Experience within specialist education, SEND or complex needs.

Experience working with Autism Spectrum Condition and/or SEMH.

Experience providing staff training or contributing to multidisciplinary service development.

For senior positions, previous clinical leadership or supervision experience.
