The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to join a specialist neurological rehabilitation service supporting adults with complex neurological conditions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an SLT with a strong interest in neurology, dysphagia and complex communication needs to work within a highly supportive multidisciplinary environment.

The successful therapist will work across two specialist sites, providing assessment and intervention throughout different stages of rehabilitation, including restorative and compensatory rehabilitation, long-term maintenance and palliative care.

The role offers the opportunity to develop your clinical expertise across a complex caseload, including tracheostomy and laryngectomy management, while making a meaningful difference to residents and their families.

Key Responsibilities

Manage your own caseload of residents with complex neurological conditions, prioritising assessment and intervention according to clinical need and risk.

Complete comprehensive neurological and communication assessments and provide evidence-based, person-centred intervention.

Provide specialist input across different stages of rehabilitation, including restorative, compensatory, maintenance and palliative approaches.

Assess and manage complex dysphagia, including tracheostomy and laryngectomy management where appropriate.

Work autonomously while recognising and escalating clinical risks and seeking appropriate support when required.

Work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to develop holistic rehabilitation plans and achieve shared goals.

Communicate complex clinical information sensitively to residents, families, carers and other professionals, adapting your communication to individual needs.

Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in accordance with GDPR, HCPC standards and organisational policies.

Contribute to clinical audits, service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.

Support the development of colleagues and contribute to a positive learning environment.

Maintain your own professional development and actively participate in supervision and performance reviews.

About You

We are looking for a confident and compassionate Speech & Language Therapist who is keen to develop or further their expertise within neurological rehabilitation.

Essential Requirements

HCPC registration as a Speech & Language Therapist.

Minimum 3 years' post-qualification clinical experience.

Experience working with adults with neurological conditions.

Experience in assessment and management of complex communication and/or swallowing difficulties.

Ability to work autonomously and manage a complex caseload effectively.

Strong clinical reasoning and an evidence-based approach to practice.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Desirable Experience

Experience in a specialist neurological rehabilitation setting.

Tracheostomy management.

Laryngectomy management.

Experience working with complex dysphagia.

Experience across different stages of rehabilitation, including palliative care.

Previous experience at Band 6 level or equivalent.
