Mediplacements are recruiting for an experienced Band 7 Speech & Language Therapist to join a specialist multidisciplinary team supporting adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism within a secure inpatient setting.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead on communication and dysphagia services, working with adults who present with complex communication and swallowing needs alongside mental health, learning disability and autism diagnoses.
The Role
As the Communication & Dysphagia Lead SLT, you will provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention, while acting as the clinical lead for communication and dysphagia across the service. You'll work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop pathways, improve service delivery and support best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver specialist assessment and management of complex communication and dysphagia needs.
Lead on communication and swallowing strategies across the service.
Manage a complex caseload within a secure inpatient Learning Disability and Autism setting.
Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to junior Speech & Language Therapists, assistants and students.
Deliver training and education to multidisciplinary teams, carers and partner agencies.
Contribute to service development, quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
Essential Requirements
HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapist.
Member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT).
Minimum of 4 years' post-graduate experience.
At least 2 years' experience managing dysphagia following specialist dysphagia training.
Experience working with adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism and/or Mental Health needs.
Confident working independently within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Skills
Leadership or management experience.
Experience supervising Speech & Language Therapists, assistants or students.
Postgraduate training in dysphagia or a related specialist area.
