Family Practitioner
Submit CVThe Family Support Service delivers statutory and non-statutory assessments and family support interventions to children and families of all ages across the borough. The teams are led by Consultant Social Workers/Team Managers who support and direct the delivery of outcome-focused family support aimed at helping children safely remain with their families and engage positively with universal community services.
We are currently moving to the Family Help model in line with the social care reforms where Family Practitioners will join Family Help teams. They will work alongside social workers to complete a whole family approach to supporting families and their networks.
The post holder will provide practical and evidenced based support to children and their families to promote improved parenting capacity and understanding of children's developing needs as part of the team's overall work. Interventions are delivered in the family home or other settings. They support the parenting role and child behaviour through evidence-based methodologies that promote positive family interaction, positive behavioural/environmental change and a good standard of care.
Family Practitioners, under the supervision of the Consultant Social Worker/Team Manager, will contribute to the service's overall effectiveness by applying a persistent approach in assessment and intervention activities with families using assessment, observation, task centred, behavioural and systemic approaches with children, young people and their families.
