Deputy Head of Department & Lead Biomedical Scientist – Band 8C

• Location: South East London
• Pay Rate: £40 per hour
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
• Start Date: Immediate 
• Contract: Ongoing 

Mediplacements is currently recruiting for an experienced Band 8C Deputy Head of Department & Lead Biomedical Scientist to join a leading NHS laboratory in South East London.

We welcome applications from candidates with either a Band 8C Biomedical Scientist or Band 8C Clinical Scientist background.

Essential Requirements

• FIBMS or FRCPath qualification.
• Significant experience making independent clinical decisions.
• Proven experience making autonomous leadership and operational management decisions.
• Extensive Blood Sciences experience across all disciplines, or specialist expertise in at least one of the following:
• Biochemistry
• Haematology
• Point of Care Testing (POCT)
• Previous experience in a senior management or departmental leadership role at Band 8C level or equivalent.

Please note this position is not suitable for Biomedical Scientists without substantial senior leadership and management experience. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of independent clinical decision-making and departmental leadership.
