Adult Speech Therapist - Acute Critical Care
Submit CVMediplacements are looking to recruit a band 7 Speech and Language Therapist for a locum position with our client in Ashford.
The pay for this position is £27-£35 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.
Job Summary
• Jointly leading the team of SLTs working within the Acute SLT service, providing highly specialist input to an acute inpatient caseload.
• be responsible for providing cover for Video fluoroscopy clinics and jointly leading the inpatient FEES (Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) service with band 7 SLT colleagues and the Principal SLT for medical, stroke and neurology caseloads.
• be an autonomous practitioner providing highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to an acute caseload of clients with complex needs.
• work alongside multidisciplinary staff to ensure highly specialist therapy programmes and care plans are in place for the clients under their care.
• lead collaborative working with patients / clients, parents / carers and with colleagues in health, the voluntary sector and social services in planning and delivery of services.
• plan, deliver and evaluate specialist training within the hospital settings to other professional and patients / carers on all aspects of swallowing, speech, language and communication.
• will contribute to the clinical education and training to more junior speech and language therapists & students.
• assume delegated responsibility for delivering clinical governance and service development including setting priorities for this area of service in collaboration with their line manager.
• The Trust is moving towards 7 day working and this post holder will be expected to participate in providing a seven day service as part of their contracted hours on a rota system.

• Admin and clerical staff
Externally this includes
• GPs and Community Matrons
• Rehabilitation teams
• Adult Social care
• Voluntary services
