Adult Speech Therapist - SEND
Submit CVOur client in Dorset is looking for a Speech & Language Therapist to work on a part time permanent basis

This role involves planning and delivering speech and language therapy to support students’ communication, language and AAC skills in line with EHCP outcomes. You’ll work closely with students, families, tutors and other professionals to create personalised, inclusive approaches that help young people reach their potential.
Speech & Language Therapist’s Role:
· To assess, work directly with, and review the progress of students as appropriate to their individual needs
· As and when student numbers expand, to devise programmes and oversee session plans to be implemented by speech and language therapy assistants (SALTAs), linked to the students’ EHCP targets
· Keep records in conjunction with both our clients' policy and HCPC code of practice.
· Create, and support EMA staff to create, individualised and generic communication resources as required, e.g. mind maps, visual timetables, Social Stories, Communication Books
· Model an inclusive communication approach to all staff
· Model general and student specific ways to support and promote students’ communication to tutors and LSWs
· Collaborate with students, family, carers and other staff in goal setting and treatment / intervention planning
· Assist with fostering close working relationships with colleagues and other relevant professionals, using a multi-disciplinary approach to maximise the students’ potential
· Provide support and information in relation to feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing disorders etc. to students and relevant others (undertaking training if not already qualified in this area)
· Participate in team meetings as appropriate, communicating and working in collaboration with the students and relevant others as part of an integrated support approach
· Attend students’ annual reviews or provide a written contribution
· To be aware of confidential issues linked to home/student/tutor/
· To comply with legal and organisational requirements for maintaining the health, safety and security of yourself and others in the learning environment
· To take part in training activities offered by our client to further knowledge and skills.
· Request external specialist training when required to enable effective and up-to-date practice as a speech and language therapist, and to fulfil HCPC continuing professional development requirements.
· Plan and deliver SALT specific training days for the education team
· Represent our client as necessary
· To know and always apply all EMA policies and procedures
· Actively engage in team-based performance management, where appropriate
· Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislation
· Request external specialist training when required to enable effective and up-to-date practice as a speech and language therapist, and to fulfil HCPC continuing professional development requirements.
· Plan and deliver SALT specific training days for the education team
· Represent Employ My Ability as necessary
· To know and always apply all EMA policies and procedures
· Actively engage in team-based performance management, where appropriate
