Mediplacements are looking to recruit a band 7 Speech and Language Therapist for a locum position with our client in London.

The pay for this position is £27-£35 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.

Job Requirements:

• As a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist you will make a leading contribution to the development and delivery of the service to children with a range of communication needs and/or dysphagia. You will be work jointly with Band 7 OT and Physiotherapy colleagues at the school and you will be supported by the SALT Clinical Lead(s) who oversee this part of the service at an operational and strategic level.
• The post holder will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for co-ordinating the SaLT provision. You will work alongside more junior SALTs to offer support and guidance. You will provide clinical supervision and facilitate staff appraisals.
• The post holder will support the Clinical Lead SALT to develop the dysphagia and AAC service and take part in training the wider children’s workforce in a range of topics to increase awareness and skill development in the area of complex needs and dysphagia to improve outcomes for these children/young people.
• The post holder will assess the feeding and/or communication needs of children/young people with developmental, neurological, medical and behavioural/sensory needs in the context of community based multi-professional teams, and offer timely and appropriate interventions in liaison with family needs.
• The post holder will provide specialist second opinions to SaLT colleagues as well as mentorship and / or supervision of more junior colleagues, assistants and student SaLTs within the department as agreed with the Clinical Lead(s).
• The postholder participate in departmental research projects, quality improvement projects and other initiatives within the service.
