Mediplacements are seeking to recruit a highly skilled and experienced band 8 Audiologist Head of Service to work with one of our clients based in Scotland.
This is a full-time position due to start as soon as possible with a pay rate of £50 - £60 per hour depending on experience.
The successful candidate must be BSc/MSc qualified.
JOB PURPOSE
* To lead and develop a comprehensive Audiology service. Acting with managerial and clinical autonomy, as the sole Audiologist
* To ensure all audiology equipment is tested, calibrated and fit for purpose, on a daily bases, prior to commencing clinical service.
* Work towards the implementation of the recommendations from the Scottish Government National Independent Review of Audiology
* Undertake regular audit of the Service in line with any local, national or professional recommendations & requirements.
* Managing own workload recognising the need to balance the clinical and managerial aspects of the role.
* Working in a manner that ensures the Service demonstrates the importance and value of doing so in line with recognised quality standards for all aspects of work, addressing where practical any deficiencies.
* Acting as the direct line manager and supporting the training and development of the Service's assistant technical officer.
* To act as the local subject information expert and provider of information to those that contact the Service in regard to the provision of the Service, advice on hearing loss and rehabilitation.
* To act as the clinical lead for the Service and to be the local expert on the diagnostic and rehabilitative work of the Service for both children and adults.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues, other healthcare professionals and service users, including patients, carers and relatives
* Responsible for supporting and training RNID volunteer services.
ROLE OF DEPARTMENT
* Delivery of all aspects of adult and paediatric audiology services to the people of Shetland, including initial hearing assessments; hearing aid provision; reassessment/reviews where practical.
* Provision of support and train RNID volunteer services
* Support to visiting ENT clinicians.
* Delivery of the Service in line with best practice as detailed and required locally, professionally and nationally through the likes of quality standards.
