Mediplacements are looking to recruit a Pharmacy Dispenser for a locum position working in a NHS Hospital in London.

The pay for this position is £21-£25 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.

Main purpose of the job
* To participate in the provision of a comprehensive dispensary based service with particular emphasis on the safe and efficient dispensing of medicines.
* To deliver quality care to patients at ward level through the implementation of an efficient medicines management system, including the assessment of patients' own drugs, counselling patients and parents about medicines and coordinating the supply of discharge medicines.

Main duties and responsibilities:
Dispensary Core Responsibilities
* To accurately dispense NHS and private outpatient, in-patient and discharge prescriptions in accordance with the standard operating procedures.
* To accurately dispense 'unlicensed medicines', extemporaneous preparations and controlled drugs as required.
* To dispense Clinical Trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice.
* Record issues, returns, and receipts in order to maintain an accurate stock balance.
* To become a regionally accredited checking technician and to be responsible for maintaining the qualification.
* To remain vigilant with respect to the clinical appropriateness of the prescription and raise any concerns with a Pharmacist.
* Support the dispensary by participating in the dispensary rota performing the final accuracy checks of dispensed items and ward requisitions.
* Maintain and develop the Dispensary and Medicines Management Standard Operating Procedures
and policies as designated by the Dispensary Team Leader.
* To be a designated 'super user' of the automated dispensing robot in order to troubleshoot
complex problems and maintain efficient systems within the dispensing process.
* Liaise with the Dispensary management team with regard to the development of the dispensary service workload and implementation practice to improve efficiency.
* In conjunction with the Dispensary Team Leader, train Pharmacy Assistants, Pre-registration trainee Pharmacy Technicians and provide induction training for new dispensary staff.
* To be a role model for junior staff and actively promote the role of the technician.
* To work independently whilst adhering to Standard Operating Procedures.
