Mediplacements is currently looking to recruit an experienced band 6 Biomedical Scientist in Haematology for a locum vacancy in Cornwall.

The pay for this position ranges from £23- £25 per hour. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.

"Rotations in haematology and coagulation will include maintenance, setting up and running of the Abott alinity and ACL TOP analysers and authorising the results which they produce. In addition to the above there will also be a requirement to complete additional haematology tests, such as glandular fever and malaria screens, and perform microscopic analysis on blood films. Rotations in transfusion include grouping and manual cross-matching where there will be an expectation of completing further screening tests as appropriate.

The candidate will be responsible for:
-Performing and interpreting a range of laboratory tests on blood and other body fluid
-Maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment
-Record keeping and quality control
-Providing results and advice to medical staff
-Participating in continuing education and training

The ideal candidate will be HCPC registered and fully competent in Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion, and will be able to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
