Podiatrist
Location: Lancashire
*To take responsibility for the continuing podiatric care of patients with a variety of needs, e.g. diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis
*To implement individual care programmes
*To work as a member of the locality team participating in the nail surgery rota and provide aftercare following nail surgery
*During own nail surgery session is responsible for the administration of local analgesia, and adrenaline for anaphylactic shock. Observation of the patient is required for allergic reactions whilst performing intricate invasive surgical procedure
*To be able to use basic life support skills and deal safely with clinical emergencies
*To be responsible for undertaking biomechanical treatment and appropriate prescription of orthotics and provision of chairside orthotics
*To undertake Level 2 diabetic foot screens for diabetic patients
*To undertake domiciliary visits at patient's homes/ nursing/ residential homes
*To manage and prioritise domiciliary caseload
*To be responsible for keeping domiciliary bag stocked up and for the safe storage and transportation of bag and all equipment, taking into account the overall weight of the bag [approx. 20 lbs. (10 kgs)].
*To assess patients suitable for discharge following departmental access criteria
*To provide appropriate Podiatry health education and advice to patients on a 1:1 basis
