{summary}The Placement Group are delighted to announce the promotion of ex BMS team leader Tim Hayward who takes on the role of HSS / AHP Sales Manager with immediate affect. Tim has worked within the group for over 6 and half years, 5 of which as senior consultant responsible for recruiting and developing our Biomedical Science division. He was also highly involved and instrumental in delivering SLA type agreements, in addition to acting as account manager for several high profile NHS & private sector clients.

In more recent times Tim has been working in a more senior role overseeing our Health Science recruitment teams with the task of developing business, increasing productivity and stream lining processes across all HSS specialties.

Tim’s obvious capability and flair for management has fast tracked his progress within the group; his new challenge will involve overseeing all Health Science and Allied Health recruitment divisions and will include our already well renowned therapy divisions including Physiotherapy, Speech and Occupational Therapy.
We wish him every success in his new role!

{summary}The Placement Group’s Payroll Manager, Michael Blacklock will be diving into the world’s biggest fundraising swim for the 2nd year running in on Sunday. Michael is taking in part in the Swimathon Weekend 2012, which will give thousands of swimmers the opportunity to raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care through Swimathon’s established Distance Challenge.

Last year Michael swam a distance of 5000 meters in 2:30hrs and raised just over £600.00 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. This year he hope’s to beat both by completing the same distance but setting a time of under 2
hours!

The Placement Group, along with friends, family and colleagues are all proud sponsors of the Swimathon and are looking forward to seeing Michael beat his record!
-	Best of Luck Mike!

The London Marathon took place last Sunday without the presence of our Contracts Coordinator, Michael Crossley. Unfortunately Michael was forced to withdraw from the race due to injury a few weeks prior, which is a great shame as we were sure his performance would have rivalled that of the elites! Nevertheless Michael has already secured his place on London’s streets for 2013, giving him plenty of time to train and fundraise for his chosen charity Epilepsy Action.

{summary}We are delighted to share with you’re the latest news and developments from our Charity of Choice; Tomorrows – Cystic Fibrosis

You may have heard the amazing news announced on March 16th that The UK CF Gene Therapy Consortium secured their funding for the gene therapy clinical trial. The Medical Research Council (MRC) and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) have awarded £3.1 million to the UK CF Gene Therapy Consortium through the Efficiency and Mechanism Evaluation (EME) programme. It has also been announced that there will be a second lab-based study, funded by a £1.2 million MRC grant and led by the University of Oxford, to investigate a more advanced version of the gene therapy using a modified virus to carry the replacement gene into the lungs.

Tomorrows have been heavily involved in the fundraising in the lead up to the trial announcement, and released the following statement:

“Tomorrows are incredibly proud to be involved in the process of fundraising for the UK Gene Therapy Programme. We are delighted that the EME programme has agreed on a grant. We hope that our £150,000 donation was in some way helpful in gaining much needed funds to see the Gene Therapy work through to the next stage. We are hopeful that this is a pivotal point in the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis."

On Saturday March 24th the 2nd Annual Tomorrows/Old Parkonians Charity Football Day took place at Oakfield. At an incredibly well attended event which managed to raise an amazing £18,593 for Tomorrows. 51 Old Parks Legends ranging in age from 35 to 69 dusted off their boots and rolled back the years to take part. The weather certainly played a part and more than made up for the quality of football on display!

The money raised will go directly to the UK Cystic Fibrosis Gene Therapy Programme who embark on a 2 year programme this year to try and find a cure for CF to remove the life threatening element of the disease.

Tim Cross, the founder of the charity commented; “We are so incredibly grateful for all the support that Tomorrows received on Saturday and over the past year. To all those who played, their families, all those who contributed and everyone who helped out we can only say a massive thank you. Without your help and generosity Tomorrows would never have been able to raise the £150,000 we contributed to help get the Gene Therapy Programme funded initially.”

The Placement Group would like commend and congratulate Tomorrows for their enormous efforts in helping make this ground breaking trial a reality!

{summary}As the current financial year draws to a close we look ahead favourably at the prospects of a sharp influx of requirements to mark the beginning of the new financial year. With the healthcare industry experiencing turbulent times over the last twelve months we as an organisation are starting to see real signs of recovery within the sector and are more than hopeful to realise continued growth throughout 2012.

The anticipated allocation of new budgets and injection of funding for vacancies suggests there’s no better time to organise yourself or your staffing provision, to guarantee the best possible chance of securing your ideal role or staff member!

Mediplacements are already working with a large pool of registered candidates as well as a significant number of healthcare organisations that are pre- planning for the year ahead.
