The reality of the nursing profession is to be highlighted as part of a new campaign by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).
Officials at the organisation stated that the 'This Is Nursing' scheme will show the variety of skills that these health workers need to perform well in their role on a daily basis.
The RCN noted that the campaign looks at how nurses respond to the challenges they are faced with on regular occasions and will use a website to follow staff in different circumstances through a normal day at work.
Dr Peter Carter, the RCN's chief executive and general secretary, said: "What we are doing is showing the reality of nursing and how it takes both professionalism and compassion to be a nurse. It's time to celebrate the outstanding work nurses do on a daily basis, often in extremely difficult situations."
The initiative comes after the RCN warned that there could be mass walkouts if hospitals decided to introduce local pay rate at some facilities.
