The government has launched a new scheme to help patients score local surgeries to help provide information about how well a facility is doing.
Data published on the NHS Choices website will detail over 8,000 surgeries across England and will provide useful patient feedback on categories such as how long they had to wait in reception before being seen and how easy was it to arrange an appointment.
Each GP facility will be marked out of ten and the DH believes that this practice will aim to show the NHS where improvements need to be made as well as creating a helpful guide for patients looking to use surgeries for treatment in the future.
Health minister Lord Howe said: "Opening up this data is another step forward in giving people more choice. Patients will now be able to see exactly what the experience of being a patient at each GP surgery is really like."
