Arbroath medical holds afternoon foot care event

A health centre in Arbroath, Angus, is to hold a free foot care afternoon on Thursday (February 9th).
The town's Springfield Medical centre will host the event between 3pm and 5pm, where people can come in and learn about the importance of foot care. Doctors of NHS Tayside are encouraging people with diabetes, their families and carers to visit the centre and gain information about the problem.
Arbroath's podiatry team will give a short presentation to raise awareness of foot care for people with the condition. The staff will also give helpful advice on how to look after a person's feet in a handy "Footstep" programme.
Foot pain is a common complaint within the UK and if left untreated can result osteoarthritis which affects 140,000 people across the country.
Rhona Guild, primary care manager, Angus CHP, told the Arbroath Herald: "These diabetes information meetings not only provide the opportunity to speak with podiatry staff but also, importantly, the chance for people to have a cup of tea and a chat with others also affected by diabetes."
