Gateshead NHS centre offering podiatry, radiology services 'praised by patients'

New podiatry, audiology, radiography and physiotherapy employees at a new state-of-the-art NHS centre set to open in Gateshead have already received plenty of positive feedback from patients.
The Blaydon Leisure and Primary Care Centre opened in October, and is the result of a joint development between NHS South of Tyne and Wear and Gateshead Council.
Radiographer Sue Hawthorne underlined how convenient the new facilities have proved for locals.
"We have had really good feedback from the ladies who come to Blaydon as it is easy to get to for those who live in the West of the borough," she explained. "There is plenty of parking and it is closer to their homes as we invite eligible women for screening via letter who are registered with GP practices nearby."
Praise for the new centre comes after a new, dedicated pharmaceutical facility for cancer patients was opened in Wansbeck General Hospital, nearby Ashington.
The new drugs unit is expected to provide a better service for the growing number of cancer and chemotherapy patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside.
