Register as an Dietitian
Wednesday 27th July 2011
Older women having trouble conceiving a child may benefit from visiting a dietician for advice.
Dr Marilyn Glenville, a leading nutritionist specialising in women's health, and founder of marilynglenville.com, suggested that the quality of eggs produced by women aged 30 to 35 can be improved by making better eating choices.
Mature women, who produce fewer eggs than younger would-be mothers, can significantly increase the chances of having a baby when the eggs are of a better quality, the expert said.
"By improving the quality of your eggs, she is increasing her chances of conceiving naturally and also preventing a miscarriage," she stated.
Dr Glenville added that it may be wise to give at least three months with a more healthy diet to see changes in egg quality take place.
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recently said that IVF cannot fully compensate for the eggcount decline in women, who may want to seek the help of those in dietician jobs instead.
