Regularly consuming coffee has been seen to significantly reduce the risk of aggressive prostate cancer in a new study.
Men who drank six or more cups of the beverage each day were shown to have a 60 per cent decreased risk of developing aggressive prostate cancer.
Furthermore, a 20 per cent reduced chance of contracting any prostate cancer was seen among these heavy coffee drinkers.
People who took one to three cups of the drink per day also had a lesser chance of developing the aggressive form of the cancer, by 30 per cent.
Lead author Kathryn Wilson, of Harvard School of Public Health, said: "If our findings are validated, coffee could represent one modifiable factor that may lower the risk of developing the most harmful form of prostate cancer."
In other news, women who drank little or no coffee had a 22 to 25 per cent higher risk of having a stroke than those who were regular drinkers, according to a study published in Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association.
