People who followed recommendations for cancer prevention were found to have less of a chance of mortality resulting from several conditions, research has shown.
American Cancer Society epidemiologists led the study which investigated more than 100,000 individuals over a period of 14 years who followed cancer prevention guidelines.
It was found that participants who had higher compliance scores had a 42 per cent lower risk of death in comparison to those with lesser scores.
Additionally, risk of death from cardiovascular disease was seen to be 48 per cent lower among men and 58 per cent less in women.
In other news, blood tests could be used to predict metastasis in patients with melanoma, findings have indicated.
Scientists have identified a set a plasma biomarkers found to be at higher levels in the blood in patients with metastasis than those in the early stages of the condition.
