Diet and nutrition could be used to combat the short-term effects of traumatic brain injury, according to a new study.
A report called Nutrition and Traumatic Brain Injury: Improving Acute and Subacute Health Outcomes in Military Personnel, a new report from the Institute of Medicine has advised the US Department of Defense as to dietary techniques to combat traumatic brain injury in troops.
The paper, from the Institute of Medicine, suggests that medical professionals doing a dietician job could look into the effects of certain diets on brain injury.
In other nutritionist news, research published in journal Diabetes Care has found that individuals who refrain from the consumption of mean could be lowering their risk of developing heart disease, diabetes or suffering a stroke.
A 36 per cent lower incidence of metabolic syndrome, a major indicator for stroke, diabetes and heart disease, was detected in vegetarians than people who eat meat.
