Tools launched to improve autism services

New tools designed to improve the lives of adults with autism have been launched and can now be accessed by local organisations.
Online resources are to make clear to local authorities what needs to be done to comply with the Adult Autism Strategy, allowing those with the condition and people close to them to see which changes are being made.
Elements such as increased access to service, personal budgets, satisfaction, involvement in service planning, confidence in the accuracy in diagnostic services and how efficiently autism is being diagnosed, will all be monitored.
Care Services Minister Paul Burstow said: "These new tools will help local authorities to drive change and create locally led, personalised services for adults with autism. We hope to see changes starting to take shape across the country shortly and an improvement in services and patient experience."
This comes amid a flurry of governmental changes to the NHS, including a £200 million per year Cancer Drugs Fund, designed to give patients greater access to the treatments they have been recommended.
