A new E-learning tool is set to help medical professionals treat spinal cord injuries and deal with the aftermath.
The tool encompasses different modules to help occupational therapists look into psychosocial management, sexual and fertility related issues and vocational rehabilitation.
There will also be a nutritional management and physiotherapy sections incorporated into the system, which is predicted to be launched in 2012 at the International Spinal Cord Society's 51st meeting in London.
It is being developed by the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, the International Spinal Cord Society, Asian Spinal Cord Network and Livability.
In other news, a new treatment which uses tiny bursts of electricity could be used to treat spinal injury.
A study published online in Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair found that functional electrical stimulation therapy improved grasping ability in patients with incomplete spinal injury.
