£775 million to go toward NHS research

The government has announced that up to £775 million will be made available over the next five years for research to benefit NHS patients, which is set to boost jobs for medical professionals within the organisation.
It is hoped that the money will help to modernise the NHS and support jobs and opportunities within the UK economy. Additionally, with the funding, the government is aiming to get world-class treatments to NHS patients.
Prime Minister David Cameron said: "A strong science and research base is crucial to help secure sustainable economic growth, helping to rebalance the economy and create the jobs of the future, which is why despite tough spending decisions we have protected its funding."
Meanwhile, one expert has said that the number of non-EU pharmacists applying to work in the UK has dived due to the government's immigration cap.
Rob Darracott, chief executive of Pharmacy Voice, said that the absence of "community pharmacists" on the exemption list has meant the number of those in applying to the work in the country has reduced.
