A cosmetic surgery technique used to smooth forehead wrinkles could alleviate migraines, scientists have found.
Research, published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, followed 69 patients after they had undergone the surgery, which deactivates muscle and nerve trigger points in the forehead, temple, nose and back of neck.
It was found that 60 per cent of patients reported their headaches had improved since the surgery while 29 per cent said their migraines were completely eliminated.
Lee Tomkins, Director of Migraine Action said: "Anything that helps reduce the pain and misery of migraine is always welcome, but it should be remembered that migraine is a brain disorder and the majority are triggered deep in the brain."
This comes after news that breast implants could cause a rare form of cancer.
The Food and Drug Administration in the USA has warned that saline and silicone breast implants have been linked to anaplastic large cell lymphoma after significantly more cases of the cancer were found in women who had undergone breast augmentation surgery.
