Immigration cap 'affecting pharmaceutical sector'

The number of non-EU pharmacists applying to work in the UK has dived due to the immigration cap, one expert has said.
Rob Darracott, chief executive of Pharmacy Voice, said that the absence of "community pharmacists" on the exemption list has meant the number of those in the profession applying to work in this country has slowed down.
"[It has] affected non-EU overseas pharmacy students who have just completed their UK degree and who have had offers of pre-registration training jeopardised by the ruling," he added.
This comes after news that the government is to spend £400 million reforming mental health services in Britain in an attempt to "cure" up to one million patients by 2015.
In addition, the plans will attempt to bring to an end the "Prozac nation" in which clinicians simply prescribe pulls for a number of conditions.
