The government will spend £400 million reforming mental health services in Britain, aiming to cure up to one million patients by 2015.
One of the targets that the money will go towards is aiming to "cure" up to one million sufferers by the next general election in 2015.
It is thought that mental health problems cost the economy £77 billion per year and the government hopes that a more "personalised" treatment will enable people to return to work.
The plans, due to be announced by deputy prime minister Nick Clegg, will also attempt to put an end to the "Prozac nation", whereby clinicians simply prescribe pills for a number of conditions.
This comes after Jenny Armitage of Journeys Toward Recovery said exercise and talking are invaluable in helping people recover from depression.
She added that the type of exercise depends on what the individual feels ready to do, whether going out for a short walk or taking up jogging.
