Chubbiness in babies could be an indication of future childhood obesity, a new study has said.
A new study from researchers at Detroit's Wayne State University has found that the heaviest nine-month-olds tend to become the heaviest two-year-olds, according to WebMD.
However, childhood obesity expert Joyce Lee of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, told WebMD that babies who are still being breastfed or bottle fed should never be denied milk.
"You can't tell a nine-month-old or a two-year-old to eat right and exercise more, but you can make healthy choices for them," she added.
Meanwhile, research published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association has found that older individuals who consume a high fat diet are 40 per cent more likely to die in the space of a decade than those who opted for healthier foods.
The study looked at different food groups consumed by older people and found that those who preferred sweets and dessert food had a 37 per cent higher risk of death, while those who enjoyed meat, fried foods and alcohol were seen to have a 21 per cent increased chance.
