The festive period could be a busy time for cardiology practitioners, with family stress found to increase incidence of angina.
Research, published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, found that the pressure of coping with worries from family members increased the individual's chance of developing angina.
Risk was most high with stress from children, partners or other family members, although friends and neighbours were not seen to have that much of an impact unless they were argumentative people.
The authors, from the University of Copenhagen, said: "Excessive demands and serious worries from significant others seem to be important risk factors for development of angina."
Meanwhile, researchers from Landspitali University Hospital, Reykjavik, Iceland have found that patients with psoriasis are more likely to have higher risk factors for heart disease and diabetes.
The study, published in Archives of Dermatology, found that 40 per cent of people with psoriasis had symptoms of metabolic syndrome compared to the control group, where only 23 per cent exhibited features of the cardio condition.
