Pharmacy jobs could be revolutionised in Scotland if plans to abolish prescription charges in April are given the go ahead.
The move would remove a total of £25 million a year from NHS budgets, according to the Press and Journal, and has been backed by MSPs, with votes totalling 89 for the move and 31 against.
Labour and the SNP voted together saying that the move would better look after those suffering from long term conditions as well as people on low incomes who are not currently entitled to exemptions.
The newspaper reported that health secretary Nicola Sturgeon said that the changes were a "barrier to health" for a lot of people.
They can prevent people from collecting their medication and they do deter some people from even visiting the doctor in the first place. If we believe in a fair and equitable society then that is a situation which is simply not tolerable.
