New government guidance for those with learning disabilities

The government has issued new guidance which will help those in occupational therapy jobs treating people with learning difficulties.
This is intended to help government organisations communicate with individuals who have learning difficulties more effectively.
Guidance focuses on Easy Read - a system which uses simple words and images but communicates complex messages.
Minister for disabled people Maria Miller said that this guidance is just one of the ways the government is working to improve the lives of disabled people and those who care for them.
"The Office for Disability Issues encourages civil servants to work with disabled people to make sure public services reflect their needs. Providing straightforward, simple information about public services benefits everyone, not just disabled people."
This comes after news that the government has invested an extra £4.4 million in NHS social enterprise schemes in an effort to make the health service more localised.
