'Glasgow Effect' could see rise in UK cardiac jobs in Scotland

UK cardiac jobs could be on the rise in Scotland after it was found that residents of Glasgow are more likely to have a heart attack than the rest of the country.
The government health report has shown that those living in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area are more likely to experience anxiety or have a heart attack.
Most differences in health between this region and the rest of the country could be explained by socio-economic factors.
However, the high levels of anxiety and heart attacks, high GHQ scores and the high percentage of the population who are overweight in Glasgow compared to the rest of the country could not be explained.
These unexplained statistics have been dubbed the Glasgow Effect and could see a rise in UK cardiac jobs in the area, as those in UK medical jobs try to rectify the situation.
This comes after a study by University of Oxford and the University of Sydney found that thousands of deaths could be prevented every year if those in UK cardiac jobs prescribed higher doses of statins to those at risk of a heart attack or stroke.
