British scientists have reportedly made a landmark discovery, which could bring doctors and those in pharmacy jobs one step closer to beating illnesses such as the common cold.
According to the BBC, Medical Research Council findings have shown that antibodies can pass into cells and attack viruses from within, while previously experts had thought that virus could only be blocked or fought externally.
Dr Leo James, who led the team of Cambridge researchers, told the broadcaster that, while pharmacy jobs can offer patients an array of antibiotics to fight bacterial infections, few antiviral medicines exist.
"Although these are early days, and we don't yet know whether all viruses are cleared by this mechanism, we are excited that our discoveries may open multiple avenues for developing new antiviral drugs," he added.
Meanwhile, health professionals in IT and pharmacy jobs at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust were recently recognised with a prestigious award for their use of an electronic patient discharge service.
