Essex development 'could create UK medical jobs'

A number of UK medical jobs could soon be created as building work begins on a new multi-million-pound healthcare facility in the Epping Forest region of Essex.
Contractors have said that it will take eight weeks to demolish the Ongar and District War Memorial Hospital in Fyfield Road, Chipping Ongar, as space is cleared for the new medical centre, Epping Forest News reported.
Once complete, the Ongar War Memorial Medical Centre will house several GP practices, a dental surgery and a range of other health services, which could lead to the creation of podiatry and pharmacy jobs.
Ann-Marie Grant, head of estates development for NHS West Essex, told the news provider that the demolition was a "delicate" process, as thousands of old bricks needed to be salvaged for use in the new building.
"We hope people will appreciate the way we will be ensuring that part of the old building lives on in the new medical centre," she added.
This week, in the government's spending review, it was announced that NHS budgets would rise by £10 billion, which could see the creation of more UK medical jobs.
