UK medical jobs: NHS budget to increase after spending review

Spending on the NHS is expected to rise following this week's government review, which could potentially see the creation of more UK medical jobs.
The Department of Health has announced that, over the next four years, the NHS budget will increase from £104 billion, to £114 billion – an increase of 0.4 per cent.
Ministers have warned, however, that £20 billion of 'efficiency savings' will still need to be made, in order to ensure smooth running of the health service.
But Nigel Edwards, acting chief executive for the NHS Confederation, which represents health service organisations, was pleased with this week's outcome.
"Given the huge financial pressure on our public services, this settlement is as good as the NHS could have hoped for under the circumstances," he explained.
Meanwhile, plans to close a Cardiff hospital could be stopped, potentially saving a large number of UK medical jobs in the area, when the public is asked for its views on the controversial proposal in the coming weeks.
