Calls for pharmacy jobs to help with cancer audits

Healthcare employees working in community pharmacy jobs have been urged to help raise awareness of lung cancer by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS).
Pharmacists in England, Scotland and Wales have been called upon to help with two nationwide audits, designed to establish the best ways of increasing the public's understanding of the disease.
The first audit will be conducted before November's Lung Cancer Month, with the second taking place during the event.
Pharmacy job holders wishing to take part in the initiative have been invited to submit their details this week.
Neal Patel, chief spokesperson for the RPS, said: "We want to ensure community pharmacists and their teams are recognised and receive funding for activity to raise awareness of cancer symptoms and improve early detection."
He added that by committing to the project, pharmacists will be helping the society to produce an evidence base required for further drug development.
Last month, the National Pharmacy Association claimed that community pharmacies have the potential to provide more services, allowing them to better meet the needs of local people.
