Pharmacy jobs 'have significant role in the community'

The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) is due to present research findings which show that pharmacy jobs are important to community health.
A Public Health Roundtable meeting has been convened by the professional body, to communicate the positive evidence that has been collected in pharmacy job trials ahead of the government's public health white paper.
The NPA's chairman Ian Facer said that projects such as the Healthy Living Pharmacies pilot in Portsmouth, which explored innovative ways of delivering pharmacy services at a local level, showed that the industry has huge potential to develop to meet the needs of residents.
Mr Facer added: "The policy and commissioning challenge is how to take what’s happening in some places to every place, so that the whole population can benefit more from this uniquely positioned network with so much to offer."
Yesterday, Wales Online reported that plans to administer NHS vaccinations on the high street could see a rise in pharmacy jobs in Wales.
