Hospital doctor jobs 'should be created by £31m funding'

An investment of £31 million in healthcare building projects will save the Welsh NHS £12.5 million annually, it has been claimed, with one official suggesting that hospital doctor jobs should be created.
BBC News reported that the Welsh Assembly Government has argued in favour of "spend to save" funding, which it hopes will improve services and patient care.
While the British Medical Association (BMA) has welcomed the investment, its Welsh chairman Dr Andrew Dearden has said that it would have a greater impact if spent to create hospital doctor jobs and hire more nurses.
Health minister Edwina Hart told the BBC: "Over the last four years NHS Wales has already saved around £850 million and the foundations are in place to deliver greater savings and to continue to raise the quality of patient care."
Meanwhile, plans to converge mental health services in Berkshire are expected to prompt a £5 million investment at the region's Prospect Park Hospital, potentially creating new hospital doctor jobs in the process.
