New town health centre 'could create pharmacy jobs'

Health secretary Andrew Lansley made an appointment at a new Kent medical centre last week to declare the facility officially open, which could lead to a number of pharmacy jobs being created in the area.
According to the Canterbury Times, the cabinet minister toured Estuary View Medical Centre in Whitstable, meeting GPs working there and unveiling a plaque to mark the occasion.
The site, located in the outskirts of the town, includes an operating theatre, outpatient clinics, a minor injuries facility, a pharmacy and a café.
"We believe the way we have redesigned clinical care is really benefiting the people of Whitstable and this investment is resulting in a better patient experience, with shorter waits and treatment closer to home," senior partner Dr John Ribchester told the news provider.
Earlier this week, NHS Oxfordshire was reported by the Henley Standard to be planning a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment designed to evaluate current provisions and how the region's pharmacy services could be improved.
