Closure highlights availability of hospital doctor jobs

The need for hospital doctor jobs vacancies to be filled has been highlighted by the announcement of impending closures at a south-east London facility.
Managers at Queen Mary's Sidcup have decided to temporarily close their emergency and maternity departments amid a shortage of people taking middle and junior-grade hospital doctor jobs at the institution.
It came after the NHS commissioned a safety review at South London Healthcare NHS Trust, raising fears of the "serious" staff shortfall, which could pose challenges for the hospital over the coming months.
"We can't take a risk that this situation would become unsustainable during the winter months. This review makes clear that this presents an unacceptable level of risk to patients," said Dr Chris Streather, trust chief executive.
Earlier this week, Dr Matt Robbins, associate specialist in emergency medicine at Coventry University Hospital, told the Coventry Telegraph that a national shortage of medical graduates was making it difficult to find candidates for hospital doctor jobs.
