UK cardiac jobs to be supported by charity

UK cardiac jobs could be saved thanks to a new charity which has been set up to help the continuation of one centre in the West Midlands.
According to the Worcester News, the cardiac rehabilitation unit in Evesham, which was founded by local councillor Gerry O'Donnell 18 months ago, will now launch a charity arm to ensure its survival.
The facility currently offers classes to those who have suffered a heart attack and allows patients to build up their heart muscles and relaxation techniques.
Speaking at the launch, Mr O'Donnell said: "We are launching the charity because we need to raise about £3,500 a year, but we think we can do that within the community."
A recent study conducted by the Medical University of Innsbruck found that 40 per cent of all deaths occurring on skiing holidays were caused by cardiac problems, indicating that holidaymakers need to physically prepare themselves before heading to the pistes.
