Overseas hospital doctor jobs applications 'climbing'

More people from overseas are looking for UK medical jobs, it has been reported.
There has been a surge in applications for positions such as hospital doctor jobs from non-UK nationals following a series of NHS recruitment campaigns abroad, the Daily Mail has said.
It revealed that the number of foreign medical graduates applying for training posts has trebled in the past year, increasing competition for the positions.
More than 1,600 applications from foreigners have been made for foundation year one posts, up from 580 in 2009, the news provider said.
These foreign medical professionals will be competing for opportunities with the 7,300 UK graduates set to take their final exams next summer, it added.
Meanwhile, senior surgeons recently warned that junior practitioners do not have enough time to train and fully develop specialist skills.
In a letter to the Daily Telegraph, president of the Royal College of Surgeons John Black and other medical professionals said the European Working Time Directive is to blame.
