Students 'confident' about UK medical jobs

Students soon to be looking for UK medical jobs are happier about their chances of success than those searching for other roles, it has been revealed.
Nearly three-quarters (70 per cent) of those reading medicine are "highly confident" about finding a position, according to the poll by Santander.
Medical students also expect to be paid the most at an average of £26,450. The overall average expected salary is £21,500.
Students are well aware of the problems in the graduate jobs market, said Helen Bierton, head of Santander current accounts, but it seems the UK medical jobs sector is seen as more buoyant.
"It is pleasing to hear that the majority of students are confident of securing employment, as they have developed an excellent range of skills in higher education," commented Katie Dalton, National Union of Students Wales president.
Those applying for UK medical jobs are likely to face increased competition from overseas, with the Daily Mail reporting that the number of applications from abroad has trebled in the past 12 months.
