Now could very well be a good time to apply for UK medical jobs as newly-released official figures have shown that employment in the NHS is on the rise.
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the East Midlands saw the biggest jump in positions of 7.3 per cent, while the east of England climbed by seven per cent and the West Midlands by 6.1 per cent.
Overall, sector jobs were up by 4.2 per cent - or 66,000 people - compared to the first three months of 2009, which, according to the Independent, takes the total number of staff members to 1.6 million across the UK.
However, Scotland may be the worst place to seek work as it experienced the smallest growth of 1.2 per cent, followed by the north-east with 1.3 per cent.
"These new analyses will help users understand regional differences in public-sector employment in more depth than before," said ONS statistician David Matthews.
