Those in podiatrist jobs may warn public over heel issues

The suggestion that high-heeled shoes may cause foot problems for women might have caught the attention of those on the lookout for a podiatry job.
A piece in the Mankato Free Press highlighted some of the opinions held by medical experts regarding the fashion item.
It quoted podiatrist Andrew Lundquist of Immanuel St Joseph's Hospital as saying that the shoes increase "the amount of pressure and the amount of the duration of the pressure on the forefoot".
He added that although those who wear high heels occasionally are unlikely to have issues, "you can make your underlying problem more symptomatic".
In addition, the expert suggested such footwear can put pressure on women's big toes and even increase their heart rate.
Moreover, researchers from Iowa State University recently found that stilettos and other similar shoes can cause damage to a person's lower joint and the inside of the knee.
