Speech therapy jobs to use comedy techniques

Those in speech therapy jobs could be set to follow the example of one Liverpool healthcare provider, after it was revealed it is using comedy to help patients with communication problems.
According to Click Liverpool, NHS Liverpool Community Health - with the Comedy Trust - is in the process of inviting people with speech difficulties to take part in a new scheme at Lifehouse that will implement humour and drama to help them act out everyday scenarios.
Commenting on the news, specialist speech and language therapist Gillian Dowman told the publication: "It is quite exciting from our point of view, as it enables people to look at difficulties they may encounter in a much more supported and yet light-hearted way."
Ann Nelson from the Comedy Trust - a registered charity set up in 2002 - added the project will show individuals difficult situations, like ordering a meal and using public transport, can be overcome.
