Smokers 'more likely to quit' with help

Those keen to stop smoking are more likely to kick the habit if they join a programme and get help from others in the same position, it has been claimed.
People in hospital doctor jobs may agree with the views of director of operations at charity QUIT Amanda Carmichael, who said that while everyone trying to quit smoking is different, it is highly recommended to get some support.
"To be successful in quitting smoking, you have to really want to stop and you have to be ready. If someone has taken steps to join a programme, it shows they are already motivated and keen to stop," Miss Carmichael explained.
According to new NHS figures published last week, it has helped record numbers of people to quit smoking this year so far. In total, there has been an 11 per cent increase in the number of people quitting compared to 2008/2009.
